2009 NASCAR Odds – Bet Sprint All Star Challenge at Lowes Motor Speedway

Sprint All Star Challenge 2009

Lowes Motor Speedway Charlotte - May 16, 2009

Sprint All Star Race brings every single impact driver on the NASCAR circuit, for an all out war. The race is AWESOME — just take every NASCAR driver who has won a race over the last two years, combine them with the winners of The Cup for the last decade, throw in the top qualifiers from the Sprint Showdown, and put them all together on the track of Lowes Motor Speedway, and you’ve got yourself one heck of a show

Sprint All Star Challenge Race Odds

The eligibility standards for this year's all-star race remain the same. Race winners from either the 2008 or 2009 season through May 9 or any past champions of the all-star event or NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (over the previous 10 years) are eligible for the race.

The top-two finishers in the Sprint Showdown, a 40-lap preliminary race, and the winner of the Sprint Fan Vote all advance into the all-star race lineup.

The 2009 format is as follows:

Segment 1: 50 laps with a mandatory green-flag pit stop on Lap 25 at which time teams must pit and take on four tires. Following the end of Segment 1, the caution flag will be displayed for an optional pit stop.

Segment 2: 20 laps with the caution flag displayed at the end of Segment 2 for an optional pit stop.

Segment 3: 20 laps with a 10-minute break at the end of Segment 3. Teams may make normal adjustments to their cars during this break. The finishing order after the third segment determines the final starting positions for the fourth and final segment.

Segment 4: 10-lap shootout with only green-flag laps counting.

Kasey Kahne won last year's 2008 all-star race after the fans voted him into the lineup.

Kasey Kahne, who got in the event because the fans voted him in, won NASCAR's Sprint All-Star Race in Concord, N.C., Saturday night.

Kahne finished 1.327 seconds ahead of Greg Biffle at the 1.5-mile Lowe's Motor Speedway. He took the lead with 17 laps remaining and held of a challenge from Biffle.

NASCAR Basics

With almost a 53-year history, the National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) has enjoyed a growth in its prestige, fan base, prize money, importance and devotion. NASCAR's inaugural season began in 1948 with the first NASCAR-sanctioned stock car race staged on the Daytona Beach, Fla., road course on February 15.

The NASCAR Busch Series was added to NASCAR portfolio in 1982 and has earned a well-deserved reputation as a training ground for future NASCAR Winston Cup stars. Jeff Gordon, Bobby Labonte, Dale Jarrett, Ward and Jeff Burton are just a few of the current regulars who participate. And some drivers even choose to spend their entire racing careers in the NASCAR series. Today, two of the top-four attended forms of motor sports in the USA are NASCAR-sanctioned divisions.
