Dickies 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
Sunday, November 7, 2010 at 1:00 PM
Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, TX

The Chase for the Sprint Cup is on and Dickies 500 is right in the middle of it. With seven races down and only three to go, a years worth of blood, sweat, and tears is converging on the Texas Motor Speedway in a blast of speed. The Dickies 500, first run in 2005, has become a major event in NASCAR, one of the final races to whittle away the pack still in the running for the Sprint Cup. Coming out of the Dickies 500, NASCAR teams will have only the Checker Auto Parts 500 and the Ford 400 to prove their mettle.

Dickies 500 Race Odds

Texas Motor Speedway is found in Fort Worth, Texes. A mile and a half of track with tight banked turns and a slightly curved straightaway, Texas Motor Speedway was built to emulate the famous Lowes Motor Speedway, one of the toughest NASCAR tracks.

The 2010 Sprint Cup Series begins its 62nd season on February 14th at the Daytona International Speedway in Florida, with the season concluding on November 22 at the Homestead- Miami Speedway in Florida. The Sprint Cup Series is racing’s most popular and highest level of professional competition. NASCAR drivers fight to earn points over the span of 10 months and 36 races.

2009 Winner of the Dickies 500 - Sprint Cup Series

In 2009, Kurt Busch drove to Victory Lane at Texas after his younger brother ran out of fuel with 2 1/2 laps left. Kyle Busch was trying to stretch his fuel to make the end while his brother Kurt was closing in steadily from behind. Kyle ran out of gas with 2 1/2 laps to go and dove onto pit road. His brother Kurt took over the top spot and was able to make it to the checkers to steal the win.

2008 Dickies 500 winner at Lowes Motor Speedway

Edwards dominated most of the race, but when a host of drivers took two tires on the second-to-last pit stop, Edwards, who opted for four, became the chaser. Crew chief Bob Osborne told Edwards not to worry, that he had a plan. Turns out the plan was not to pit again, going the final 69 laps on a single tank of gas. It may not have been Osborne's original idea, but it worked, because when the rest of the field pitted one last time, Edwards took back the lead, dialed back on his accelerator to save fuel and cruised to his eighth win of the season. Can Edwards do it again in 2009 or will Jimmy johnson have other plans for this years Sprint Cup victory?
