The eligibility standards for this year's all-star
race remain the same. Race winners from either the
2008 or 2009 season through May 9 or any past
champions of the all-star event or NASCAR Sprint Cup
Series (over the previous 10 years) are eligible for
the race.
The top-two finishers in the Sprint Showdown, a
40-lap preliminary race, and the winner of the
Sprint Fan Vote all advance into the all-star race
lineup.
Segment 1: 50 laps with a mandatory green-flag pit
stop on Lap 25 at which time teams must pit and take
on four tires. Following the end of Segment 1, the
caution flag will be displayed for an optional pit
stop.
Segment 2: 20 laps with the caution flag displayed
at the end of Segment 2 for an optional pit stop.
Segment 3: 20 laps with a 10-minute break at the end

their cars during this break. The finishing order
after the third segment determines the final
starting positions for the fourth and final segment.

counting.

NASCAR All-Star Race Winners and Results
2010 All-Star Race Winner
Pole sitter, Kurt Busch, has one million (dollars) reasons to be happy Saturday night, as he wins the NASCAR Sprint All-Star race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
This was Busch’s first NASCAR All-Star race victory in nine tries (his previous best finish was second in 2003) and gives Roger Penske his second All-Star race victory as an owner.
Busch held off the NASCAR Sprint Showdown race winner, Martin Truex, Jr., by 0.358 seconds, and they were followed by Joey Logano finishing third, Denny Hamlin fourth, Tony Stewart fifth, Kevin Harvick sixth, Brad Keselowski seventh, Matt Kenseth eighth, Greg Biffle ninth and Bobby Labonte rounding out the top-ten finishers.
2009 All-Star Race Winner
Tony Stewart: Passes Matt Kenseth with two laps to go for his first win.
For the 25th anniversary of the race, two of the more popular elements of the classic format returned for this special edition. The first segment became a 50-lap quarter, with a mandatory pit stop taking place in Lap 25 of the segment, the pit stop must be a four-tire Stop and take place during a green flag condition. Following the first two segments, cars will have the option of pitting, but they will lose track position should they do so. The second and third segments were twenty laps each, returning to the 2007 format. Following the end of the third segment, a ten-minute break took place, allowing for adjustment of cars preceding the final segment, a ten-green flag lap shootout. The popularity of the double-file restarts throughout the race lead NASCAR to adopt the rule for the second half of the 2009 season.
