As the only other road-course race on the Sprint Cup Series schedule, the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at The Glen is a 90-lap, 220.5-mile NASCAR stock car race.

Even though the recent history of this race only goes back to 1986, NASCAR did come to the track periodically in the 1950s and 1960s. Back in 1957, stock cars made their first appearance with Buck Baker taking home the $1,000 first prize. That’s probably not enough to buy a tire on today’s cars, and luckily for the drivers the purse money has been increased significantly to the $250,000 range for the winner.
